Thanks a Latte

Here's another fun card from my recent card workshop using the Seaside Paper Pack from Close to My Heart.

This was a "fan favorite" in the class.  I was inspired from a Stampin' Up card by demonstrator Eileen Dent.  She doesn't have a link to her card online, but it was super cute and I used her layout and replaced her SU products with our CTMH papers and stamps for my purposes.  :)

I knew I wanted to use this coffee cup as soon as I saw it in the "Treats of Friendship" set.  One of the sentiments in this set says "I like you a latte", but I thought a thank you card would be more useful for my group of workshop attendees, so I cut the sentiment in half and only used the "a latte" portion.  I used the "Thanks" from the very versatile set called "Finding the Words".  

This set is also a great one for coloring or paper piecing, which I did here.  Here's a closer look.

I also added some interest to the Crystal Blue cardstock by stamping with one of the images on the Distressed Backgrounds set.

Chalk it Up "Happy Birthday" tiled card

Here's another fun card from my recent card workshop.  I've been wanting to try this type of card for a while now.  I was inspired by a fellow CTMH consultant named Vicki Wizniuck.  I love all of Vicki's cards and projects.  See her card HERE.

I love how she paper-pieced the "birthday" on her card, but I thought it might be too time consuming for a classroom situation, so I just had my workshop attendees use our ShinHan markers to color the Framework Alphabet letters.

The life of the current Close to My Heart catalog is nearing its end and I hadn't used the "Chalk it Up" paper yet for my classes.  I really liked it once I started playing with it.  I also added in one of the papers from the Whimsy Paper Fundamentals collection.  It's the fun embossed Sorbet colored paper.

Now for the pattern, honestly, it took me a little while to figure out, but once I got it down, it was easy peasy.  This is a great design to use up paper scraps.  I don't throw anything away, so I have lots of scraps to use, lol.  Each "tile" on this card measures 1" x 1-1/2".

I kept the card simple as far as embellishments go.  I just added a trio of stars cut from the various Chalk It Up papers, Whimsy Paper Fundamentals and cardstock.  I raised the one in the middle with foam tape, just to give a little extra interest.

The word "Happy" came from another great stamp set called "Finding the Words".  I've used this set for many cards already and I'm sure I'll use it for many more.

Ice cream equals happiness, right?

I had my July Greeting Card workshop recently and this was one of the favorites of the bunch.

Cute, huh?  I hadn't really played with the Seaside Paper Pack until I started designing this card.  I just love the fun stripes and polka-dots.  I've personally never had polka-dotted ice cream, but I'd try it if I had the chance.  :)

I love the sentiment on this card.  We are guilty of having ice cream in our house almost every night and I have to say, we're pretty happy here, hee hee.  

I used the now unavailable June Stamp of the Month called "Ice Cream Dream" on this card.  Unfortunately I wasn't able to have a card class in June, but I still wanted to use this cute stamp set.  I pre-warned my workshop attendees that it wouldn't be available by the time we'd be making this card, so they could pre-order it if they wanted one for themselves.  

This a great stamp set for paper piecing (which I did on the ice cream cone) or coloring with our wonderful markers.  We did a little coloring on the sentiment with two of the Shin Han markers.  I also used a little green epoxy bubble to dot the "i" on "Happiness".

Woo hoo, my first online sale!

I had my first online sale yesterday.  Someone purchased 7 of my cards from my Ebay shop!  I've been listing cards in both my Ebay and Etsy shops and waiting to see if someone would find me.

You make my World go 'Round

I was searching through some boxes in my craft room the other day and ran across more cards I haven't shared here.  Geez, I'm beginning to realize just how many cards I've made over the years.  This was a fun one from a couple years ago.

This paper was part of the "Dream Pop" paper pack.  It was a really bright and fun paper pack introduced for National Scrapbooking month back in May 2013.  The stamp set called "Pinwheel" was the Stamp of the Month that same month.  

This was a super fun stamp set.  It could be used with any paper pack, just by stamping the pinwheel wheels in any color combination that suits your needs.  For this card I was inspired by a very talented fellow CTMH Consultant named Allisa Chilton.  I love all of  her cards!

The "wheels" of the pinwheel were stamped in Cotton Candy, Sunset & Honey inks and coordinated very well with this fun paper pattern.  I added a little bit of foam tape between the pinwheel layers to add more dimension.  I put them together with a large white brad and added a bright colored stir stick (which I found in the break room at work, shhh...).

This is the now retired "Pinwheel" set (which coordinated with CTMH's "Artiste" Cricut Cartridge).  This set really reminds me of summertime.

Hello tweety...

What?  No, it's not a post about Tweety Bird, it's actually the name of the stamp set I used on this card.  I've been working on some ideas for cards for my upcoming card classes, but they're not ready for photos yet.

In the mean time, I thought I'd continue to post some older cards that I haven't shown in the past.  Even though the stamp sets and/or paper may not be available on some of my older cards, I thought they may still inspire you if you're a card maker.  Or if not, maybe it will inspire you to visit my Etsy or Ebay shops.  Can you say shameless plug?  hee hee

This is a card I made a couple years ago with a great paper pack called "Claire".  I had fun with this paper and did an entire card class with it.  The different patterns in this paper pack made it pretty easy to create some nice cards.  This stamp set was fun one too.  I loved the birdcage when I saw it and knew I had to use it.  These "Center Step" cards are great for a long, narrow stamped image.  You can see a sample of another "Center Step" card I made recently HERE.  

When I stamped the birdcage, I used the "rock n' roll" stamping technique.  In case you're unfamiliar with that technique, you stamp the image in a base color and then before stamping that image on your paper, you roll the edges of the stamp in a different ink color (usually darker), then stamp your paper.  If you look closely you can see that I stamped the entire birdcage in Sunset Ink and then rolled the edges in Hollyhock Ink.  It's subtle on this image, but is a pretty effect.  

I also did all of the stamping on the Colonial White paper on the center of the card, then ran that piece of cardstock thru my embossing machine giving it some texture.  After that, I stamped the bird image in Outdoor Denim ink, cut it out and adhered it to the birdcage image.  

I used the Close to My Heart exclusive "Art Philosophy" Cricut Cartridge for the shape the main sentiment is stamped on.  I have all of the CTMH Cricut Cartridges, but I have to say Art Philosophy is still my favorite.  There are approximately 700 different images on this cartridge.  Amazing!  The nice thing about the cartridges is the fact that Close to My Heart has many stamp sets that coordinate with shapes on the different cartridges.  It makes it even more fun to create!  See all of the different images available on Art Philosophy HERE.

I added a piece of Colonial White cardstock to the inside of the card to make it easier to write your special message.  The stamped row of birds is a nice surprise for the recipient too.  

This is the stamp set I used on this card.  Along with the great sentiment on the the front of my card, you can see it also includes a few other sentiments and a lovely vine design.  As I mentioned before, it's called "Hello Tweety" and unfortunately it is a retired set.

Through stormy seas...

Here's an oldie but goodie.  I made this card when the CTMH "Tommy" paper was available.  It's a great nautical paper.  When I saw saw the stamp set that came with the "Tommy Workshop on the Go", I knew I had to have it.  I loved the sentiment and thought it would be a wonderful masculine card (maybe Anniversary card?) for my monthly card workshop.

I stamped the large sentiment and the two nautical map images in Outdoor Denim ink, then stamped the bottom of the large sentiment again in Cranberry ink on a scrap of cardstock.  I cut out the word "Together" from the cranberry stamping and adhered it to the main image to highlight that word.  I also stamped the anchor on a piece of scrap cardstock and cut it out to hang it from the Cranberry baker's twine.  Isn't it cute?

I like to add a stamp to the inside of a card if there's one that coordinates, so it's extra special for the recipient.  This set had a cute sailboat and a wave design, so I used those inside.  You can see it in the side view of the card above.

You're Tweet

I'm back today with another throwback card from 2 years ago.  I made this card for my monthly card workshop using Close to My Heart's "Claire" paper and the April 2013 Stamp of the Month "My Sunshine".  I was a big fan of "Claire" when it came out and made several cards using it.  I'll be posting more in future throwback posts.

I fell in love with the bird in the "My Sunshine" stamp set, so I wanted to make it a focus of my card.  This particular Stamp of the Month had several images that coordinated with CTMH's Cricut "Artiste" cartridge.

I used my "Artiste" cartridge to cut the bird out of our Silver Glitter Paper.  Then I stamped the bird in Hollyhock ink, cut it out and centered it up on the Glitter Cricut piece.  The Glitter bird wing is popped up for added interest.  I also framed the "You're Tweet" sentiment with the Silver Glitter Paper.  The photo doesn't do that paper justice, it's so shimmery in person.

And because I think you can never have enough sparkles, I added 3 Sparkles in two of the card's corners and a Bitty Sparkle for the bird's eye.

I mustache you...

I'm going back in time with this card.  I have many from the past that I have never posted, so I figured why not start sharing those as well?  A couple of years ago, back when the mustache trend was big (I'm still digging the mustache trend by the way) I came up with this fun masculine (or not) birthday card for one of my monthly card classes.

The paper I used on this card is Close to My Heart's "Later Sk8r" (now retired, bummer).  However, that fabulous Mustache is still available.  It's from the "Perfect Fit - Dad" stamp set.  It's one of those great stamps that coordinates with one of CTMH's Cricut Cartridges ("Artiste" to be exact), so it will be available for a long time.  Yay!  The "Happy Birthday" sentiment is still available as well.  That set is called "Joyful Birthday".  It has four different birthday fonts to choose from and is a must have stamp set.

I don't make very many masculine cards, but this paper pack lent itself easily to it.  The colors of Outdoor Denim, Pear, Lagoon and Slate are a great color combo.  I actually used my computer to print out the "I... you to have a" text and added the mustache stamped with Outdoor Denim ink and Happy Birthday sentiment stamped with Pear ink.  I added a piece of polka-doted washi tape and tied on some baker's twine and voila, easy peasy.

Actually, I think I'm going to pull out my supplies and make a few more of these for my Ebay & Etsy shops.  They'd be a great card for an adult or teen, don't you think?

I AM Thankful for You

This is another unseasonal card post and although the paper and the pumpkin image are both very fall like, the sentiment is quite fitting for the holiday today.  I am thankful for all those who gave their lives fighting for our freedoms.  I truly appreciate the life I live because of those service men & women.  I AM thankful for you.

I made this card a few months ago for my card class, using one of my favorite papers, Close to My Heart's "Pathfinding" paper pack.  I really can't get enough of these fall colors and the added blue accents.

For this card I started with a base of Champagne cardstock and added three strips of  two different patterned papers.  The "Thankful for You" sentiment and the pumpkin image are from the "Thankful Heart" stamp set.

The sentiment was actually all one stamp, but I cut mine apart to make it easier for my class attendees to stamp in the three colors of Autumn Terracotta, Chocolate and Lagoon rather than using the masking technique.  That's the great thing about Close to My Heart's clear acrylic stamps, you can cut them apart and it does not affect their quality at all.  They stick right back together on the block when you're ready to use the image all as one again.

For the rest of the card, I colored the pumpkin using the CTMH Shin Han markers; Marigold and Sap Green.  I added a strip of Blue Glitter Paper (which I LOVE) and some twine and popped the pumpkin and sentiment up over that with a bit of foam adhesive.  As you know if you've seen most of my other cards, I love to add texture and embellishments.  I rarely make a flat card.  :)

"Happy Father's Day" or "Thank You" - one card, two sentiments

I wanted to be sure to include a Father's Day card in this month's card workshop in case my June class is too late.  Some of the class attendees didn't need that particular sentiment, so I gave them another masculine option using the same card layout and just changing the image.

For the card front I used a base of Barn Red cardstock and added two different patterned papers from the new "Jackson" paper pack (available for a limited time).  I also added two of the metal Durables Artisan Studs in the bottom corner for added interest.

For the Father's Day card I used the stamp set "The Best Dad Ever".

Isn't that cute?  I stamped the entire image in Cocoa Ink, then on a scrap of Colonial White cardstock I stamped the hat in Barn Red, the mustache in Cocoa and the bow tie in Juniper ink.  I cut those images out and popped them up on top of the first image I stamped.

For the Thank You card I used the stamp set "Typed Note", which was the April Stamp of the Month and is unfortunately no longer available.  

I made a mat of Barn Red & Colonial White cardstock for the center of the card.  I then stamped the typewriter in Cocoa ink on a scrap of Colonial White cardstock, cut it out and adhered it to the matted piece.  I stamped the "typed" sentiment using Juniper ink.  I also popped up the top of the "paper" in the typewriter portion of the image to make it look like it was really rolling out of the machine.

I let those that chose to use the typewriter set choose which "typed" sentiment they wanted to use.  This set has so many options.  Both cards are nice masculine cards, which I don't make very often (I need to work on that).

Happy Thanksgiving!

Okay, so I know it's not Thanksgiving, but I wanted to share this card anyway.  And who knows, maybe you want to plan ahead for next fall?  ;)

I made this card for one of my card workshops using Close to My Heart's "Pathfinding" paper pack and Thankful Heart stamp set.  I've posted several cards made with this paper pack before: HERE, HERE & HERE.  It's so pretty and I really think it's still one of my favorite papers in this current catalog.

I normally make standard sized cards, but thought it would be fun to make a different size this time.  This card measures 3 1/2" x 8".  The "Happy Thanksgiving" sentiment fit perfectly on this card size.

I stamped the leaf images on a scrap of Colonial White cardstock, colored them with our Shin Han Markers, cut them out and layered them in the top right corner.  The acorn was one of the images on the patterned paper and I just cut it out and popped it up on the leaves.  It's a little hard to see, but there's an itty bitty brown sparkle on the acorn stem.

I added a couple strips of Bronze Shimmer Trim around the sentiment to add a little sparkle.  You can't have enough sparkle in my opinion.  I didn't get a picture of the inside of the card but, I added a piece of Colonial White cardstock so a written sentiment could be seen better and I stamped one of the leaf images in the bottom corner for added interest.

Happy Birthday to you with Arrows galore...

I don't seem to make very many masculine cards, but when I saw the Close to My Heart "Jackson" paper, I thought this would be the perfect opportunity.  The featured colors in the paper pack are Cocoa, Barn Red, Juniper & Glacier and to me, seem a little more masculine or outdoorsy (is that a word?), lol.

The stamped image from the "You Mean the World to Me" set had two little arrows on it, so I thought I'd use it and carry on the arrow theme.  I stamped the image in Juniper Ink.  Then I embossed arrows on a piece of Colonial White cardstock using our new Arrow Embossing Folder and layered it with the Jackson papers.  You can't really tell from the photo but I popped up the Colonial White cardstock and I also popped up the matted square that the image is stamped on.  I added an arrow charm from our Base & Bling Signature Charms pack, which is meant for our Base & Bling jewelry pieces, but I liked the addition of the metal embellishment on my card.

Isn't that arrow a fun addition?  And if you don't need an "Happy Birthday" card, you can change it to a "Thank You" sentiment with one of the other images in the same set.  It also has the Arrow as part of it's design and would fit this card perfectly.  Here's what the "You Mean the World to Me" set looks like.

It's a very useful stamp set, I've used all of these sentiments for my cards.  Remember THIS POST about a card swap I did with the fun little paper pieced scooter?  I used the "It's Your Day" image for that one.
