Happy Birthday - Build-a-Cake with Hopscotch paper

Happy Birthday!!  It's not your birthday?  Well, it's someone's birthday today, so Happy Birthday to you, whoever you are!  (Ok, I know I'm a dork.)

Here we go again with this CTMH "Hopscotch" paper that I love so much.  Again, it's no longer available, and again (luckily), the stamp set is still available and it's a fun one.

I tried to make a more neutral card with this color combination.  I think it would work as a masculine or feminine card.  The color combination is Flaxen, Glacier & Indian Corn Blue.

For the candle flame I used a leaf from the Junebug Puffies embellishments and cut off the stem.  I couldn't get a very good photo of it, but it's nice and glittery.  :)

And here's the stamp set I used: Build-A-Cake

You can do all kinds of things with these cake layers and cute cake stands.  It's a perfect stamp to go with any paper pack because you can stamp it to coordinate with anything.  I love stamps like that.

**Note: I'm also listing some of my cards for sale in both my Etsy shop and my Ebay shop.  You can find the links on the sidebar of this blog.  For the next few months the sales will go towards the cost of a school trip to Italy my 15 year old son will be taking next Spring.  Every little bit helps, right?**

Thanks for stopping by!

Love Ya Silly - a colorful sunburst card

Ack!  What a cute little monster!  This is another of the cards we made back in my March card workshop.

For this card I used the Close to My Heart paper called "Hopscotch".  Unfortunately it's no longer available (bummer).  The cute little monster stamp is however, still available.  It's called "Love Ya Silly" and includes a couple other very cute little monsters and sayings.  It's hard to see in the picture but the piece of blue paper on the bottom of the card actually has an embossed texture on it.  It's from the Paper Fundamentals - Whimsy paper pack.

I've loved the look of these sunburst card ever since I first saw them on my fellow CTMH consultant Susan Williams' blog.  They are fun to make and especially great for using up scraps of patterned paper.  You can find the directions on how to make this style of card on Susan's blog HERE.

I used the stamp set called "Doodled Designs" for that cute little doodled circle that is surrounding the monster.  I cut the circle out and popped it up with some foam squares.  I also added a strip of Teal Shimmer Trim for some interest and wrapped the whole card front with our Flaxen Extra Thick Twine.  I added a little puffy heart from the Chalk It Up Assortment in the bottom corner.  Last but not least, I added a bitty sparkle for the monster's eye.  I colored the sparkle blue using a Shin Han marker to turn it into the perfect coordinating embellishment.

Here's a closer look at the two stamp sets we  used...

I will list the supplies used on this card below.  Please let me know if you have any questions.

If you happen to NEED a "Love Ya Silly" card of your own, I will be listing a few of them in both my Etsy & Ebay shops.  For the next few months this is part of a fund raiser to help send my son on his school trip to Italy next spring.  See the links on my side bar.

Ciao!

Easter Wishes... a little late, or really, REALLY early...

Oops, I suppose I should have shared this card back in March when I made it (before Easter).  Oh well, we'll call it inspiration for next Easter.  This was one of the 5 cards we made in my March card workshop.  It's a "fun fold", but I'm not sure that I know the correct name.  I call it a "Z-Fold" card.

For this card I used CTMH's "Hopscotch" paper which is no longer available.  It's the same paper I used in my last post (the "Thanks a Bunch card").  Good news though, the Stamp set is still available.  It's called "Hopping By" and it includes some very cute images and sentiments.

This is the inside of the card.  We stamped a fun sentiment and a cute little flower, which we colored with the Shin Han Markers available from CTMH.  We also added a strip of Sunset Chevron Washi Tape for a bright accent.

Here's what the card looks like opened up.  When it's closed the front panel covers the entire inside matted sentiment.

And let's not forget how cute that little bunny is.  And driving a carrot car?  C'mon, how cute is that?

Again, we used the Shin Han markers to color the bunny, his little basket of eggs and part of his car.  For the body of the carrot car, we paper pieced it using another of the fun Hopscotch papers.  Here I go again, cutting things out.  I told you I was addicted.  I think it's just darling.

I didn't really have a ribbon to match this paper pack, so I used CTMH's Teal Shimmer Trim and attached it with our fun new Mini Stapler. So cute!

Here's a closer look at the stamp set used, "D1633 Hopping By":

A Bunch of Thanks

Check out this fun card!  I made this back in March in a workshop using the now unavailable "Hopscotch" paper from CTMH.  This color combination is right up my alley.

I really enjoyed using this paper pack and wish it was still available.  The good news is, the stamp set is still available and it's such a great set.  It's called "A Bunch of Thanks".

It's a great stamp for traditional stamping, coloring in with markers or doing what I did and paper-piecing.

If you've ever been to one of my card workshops or participated in a card swap with me, you know that I love to cut things out with my micro-tip scissors.  I just find it really relaxing and of course it doesn't hurt that it's something I can do while whatching TV.  (It's also a pretty well known fact that I'm a "tv-aholic")

Here's a closer look at the paper piecing of the flowers and one of the vases...

Isn't that pretty?  Oh, and I'm really loving the gold accents.  I used a strip of Gold Shimmer Trim and added Gold Gems to the flower centers for that added bling.  It's been a long time since I've used gold in my crafts, but I'm currently loving it.  It doesn't hurt that it's really shimmery too (is that a word?).

I also used our new Extra Thick Twine in the Flaxen color and just tied a simple knot.  And along with the Hopscotch patterned paper, I also added a piece of Smoothie paper from the Paper Fundamentals - Whimsy pack.  It has a shiny, embossed texture which adds a little something extra.

Here's a list of supplies used on this card with links to my CTMH website where available:

Until we meet again...
